Our collection of AEDs for public access defibrillation programs features units that are designed for ease of use by lay-responders, otherwise known as non-trained responders. Ideally, anyone who will be responding with an AED will be trained on AED use, however every unit listed here is incredibly intuitive and easy to use by anyone who is able to respond.
When making a selection for your public access defibrillation program, we at General Medical Devices, Inc. highly recommend that you opt for a unit with "Fully-Automatic" configuration. The difference between fully-automatic configuration and semi-automatic AED configuration is simply whether or not a responder needs to press a button to deliver a shock or not. While a Semi-Automatic and Fully Automatic AED will work the same otherwise, the Fully Automatic AED will advise responder to not touch the patient and automatically administer the life-saving shock.
The reason for our recommendation is simple: We want to eliminate the risk of "stage-fright" when a responder is administering the AED. With a fully-automatic AED, the possibility of hesitation to press the shock button is non-existent.
